This novel is told in two perspectives and the two main characters are involved in a plane crash that was caused by a shooting and Sophie who is one of the mc's gets shot in the eye but somehow survives through it all and Chris who is our other mc is safe although he looses his older sister and his father. And Sophie looses her mom and dad and younger brother William and is left with her one eye and one older brother and one younger brother who ended up going home in Chico, California to live with their mom's parents. Chris moves in next door and the two get to know each other although Chris is out of luck because she is already taken by her best friend. How do Chris and Sophie cope after the crash? And will they ever be more than friends?
